Trace Heating

Parallel circuit constant wattage heating cables are a fixed resistance zonal type with typical heated zone lengths of one metre.

These heating cables are designed to be cut from the reel and site terminated to suit pipework requirements. Termination is simple and can be carried out by any competent person.

Constant wattage heating tapes are suitable for internal and external freeze protection and temperature maintenance, hot water lines, oil and chemical lines, sprinkler system mains and supply piping (as listed in Clause 1 BS EN 62395).

These heat trace tapes are available with braided earth screen and with either silicone rubber or FEP sheathings* (*special order). Type SCBX is certified for use in hazardous areas.

The electrical characteristics and output of zonal parallel circuit trace heating tapes can be monitored and checked at all times throughout their installed life, either manually or automatically by current sensing systems.

All constant wattage heating cable should be temperature controlled for efficient operation and control using either a Type STC or Type JBT trace heating thermostat.

Constant wattage trace heating cable

Our constant wattage heating cables have a core comprising of two bus-wire conductors contained with an extruded silicone rubber sheath. The sheath is notched on alternate sides at predetermined intervals to expose a short section of bus-wire conductor.

Nichrome resistance wire is wrapped at regular spacing around the core as a continuous conductor, making contact with the bus-wires at the exposed points.

After completion of the heater conductor wrapping, a high temperature soldered joint is made at each contact point ensuring that a number of conductor strands are securely bonded to the bus-wires.

An extruded outer sheath of silicone rubber is than placed over the core and heater element to complete the heater tape assembly.

Where additional protection is required for corrosive conditions extruded silicone rubber sheathing can be extruded over the braided cover.

All constant wattage heating tapes are manufactured to current British and European standards (BSEN) and our Quality Management System is approved to ISO 9001.
